Peacefully, at Lakeridge Health Centre, Bowmanville, on Wednesday, March 05, 2025. Paul Hickey age 74, was the son of the late Aloysius and Mary (Flynn) Hickey. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Helen Hillier, Edmund Hickey (Maureen), Jack Hickey (Maureen), Aloysius Hickey (Mary), Mary Donnelly (Pat), Rita Shephard (Bill), Frank Hickey, Marie Hickey, and Rose Marie Hickey. Predeceased by his brothers Ambrose and Steven, brother-in-law Dave, and sister-in-law Bonnie. Survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Paul was born in Bird’s Creek and was raised on the family farm. He attended grade school and high school in Bancroft. Paul graduated from King’s College and received his Master of Divinity (M.Div) at St. Peter’s Seminary in London, ON. He received his Deaconate Ordination on June 3, 1988, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Bancroft, and his Ordination to Priesthood was celebrated on May 26, 1989, at the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains, Peterborough, ON by Most Rev. James Doyle. Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (18 Need St., Bobcaygeon) on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Father James Serceley presiding. Interment Blackhouse Garden of Rest Cemetery, Mahone Bay, NS. As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
