DUECK, Herb
June 16, 1948 – December 15, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Herbert ‘Herb’ Kent John Dueck, who left us surrounded by his family, in Red Deer on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the age of 76 years. Born on June 16, 1948, in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Herb lived a life full of warmth, humor, and passion for the things and people he loved most. For the last twenty-three years, Herb shared his life with his loving companion, Sheila Mowat. Together, they created countless memories, and Herb became an integral part of Sheila’s daughter, grandchildren’s, and great grandchild’s lives, whom he loved deeply. Herb was a proud father to his daughter, Jodi (Dueck) Zemlak, who lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband, Warren, and his son, Stephan Dueck, who lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is also survived by his five grandchildren; his two great grandchildren; and his brother, Rock (Deb) Dueck. Herb was known to many and stood out in any room he entered. His quick wit and humor ensured he always had a joke to share. He deeply loved riding his motorcycle and classic cars, frequently attending car shows and “nerd nights.” Herb’s enthusiasm for finding the next great deal on Kijiji brought him excitement, and he was infamous for “loving them and leaving them” – his cars, that is! Most recently, Herb proudly represented the Pharoahs Car Club Alberta as vice president, bringing him immense pride and joy. A lover of ‘50’s and ‘60’s rock, Herb was known to pick up a guitar and carry a tune to his favorite songs from time to time. Before his retirement, Herb spent his career in the Plumbing Supply Business, where he formed cherished friendships and relationships that lasted a lifetime. He will be forever missed but never forgotten. Herb’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”
