With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Henriette Renaud, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Henriette was born on February 25, 1942, in River Canard, Ontario, to Martin and Laurentia Côté. From an early age, she was blessed with a gift for music, becoming an accomplished pianist, organist, and dedicated piano teacher. She found joy in sharing her music, whether playing for her family, teaching students, or accompanying church services.
In 1962, Henriette married Elie Renaud, and together they welcomed eight children into the world. In 1974, they moved to British Columbia, settling in Maple Ridge, where Henriette became a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Parish before later joining St. Luke’s Parish. Faith was an important part of her life that she expressed through kindness, resilience, and a steady devotion to her family and community. When Elie passed away in 2003, she faced the loss with strength, cherishing the memories they had built together.
In 2015, she married Gerry Secker, with whom she shared companionship and new memories in her later years. Henriette will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of music, and the unwavering support she gave to those around her.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love in her children—Marcel (Barbara), Vincent (Danielle), Gerard (Tracy), Martin (Tara), Daniel (Virginia), Timothy (Sue), Julie-Anne (Scott), and Diane—her 17 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her husband Gerry, her sister Juliette, and brothers Emmanuel, George, and Blaise. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond.
A vigil prayer service will be held on March 19, 7:00 pm at St. Luke’s Parish in Maple Ridge, followed by her funeral Mass on March 20 at 11:00 am. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and music will live on in those who knew her.
