Helen McGrath, March 5, 1929 – January 3, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother, Helen McGrath, age 95 years of Patrick’s Cove. Helen passed peacefully away at Pleasantview Towers on January 3, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Helen or Mrs. Helen, as she was addressed by so many, was a beautiful, gentle soul, with an unprecedented sense of humor and an enormous heart. Her unconditional love for her family and her resilent faith are qualities she bestowed upon all those who loved her. Mom was the center of our family, renowned for her kindness and friendship. She delighted in having a home cooked meal to share with family, friends and neighbours.
Predeceased by her husband Ronald, her parents John & Catherine McGrath, step-mother, Mary Bridget McGrath, and son Adrian, sisters: Ida, Esther, Kathleen and infant sister Evelyn, step-sisters, Alice, Nellie & Evelyn, brothers Patrick & Dermot, son-in-law Keith Barnett, daughter-in-law Bride McGrath & sister-in-law Theresa McGrath.
Leaving to mourn are sons: Brian, Bert, Ches (Allison), Daughters: Kay (Terry), Ida (Derek), Hilda (Eugene): daughter-in-law Rita, brother Clarence (Samantha) & step sister Annie (Dave) 12 grandchildren: Rod (Nancy), Nicole (Phil), Trudy, Brian (Donna),
Derek (Karen), Adrienne (Melvin), Natasha (Aiden), Scott, LeRoy (Sherry), Jason (Charlene), Jennifer (Scott), Kaitlyn: 15 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Rielly, Cayleigh, Courtney, Ryan, Jacob, Noah, Carson, Morgan, Abigail, Kyle, Brody, Cameron, Finlay, Fletcher & a large circle of family and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at Pleasantview Towers for their exceptional care and kindness over the past 4 years and to all her past home care workers (especially Michelle Conway). Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home in Placentia on Monday, January 6, at 1 pm (for immediate family members) : 2 – 5 pm & 7- 9 pm for general visitation: Tuesday, January 7 from 10 am – 12 noon. Funeral mass will take place at St. Patrick’s Church, Patrick’s Cove on Tuesday at 2 pm. Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Patrick’s Cove.
