1937-2025
Helen Josephine
Wiseman, 87, of New Minas, passed away in Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Born in Steam Mill, she was a
daughter of the late Wilfred and Evelyn (Melvin)
Woodworth.
Prior to retirement,
Helen worked in healthcare as a certified nursing assistant. She was
an avid quilter, knitter and crocheter. Helen enjoyed being a Brownie
leader for many years and she was involved in many volunteer
organizations including the Catholic Women’s League (57
years); Fidelis House, and caring for the elderly in their homes, are
but a few.
Helen is survived by
her daughters, Charlene Wiseman, of Canaan; Sandra (Michael) Burrell,
of Bear River; Katherine (Robert) Ryan, of St. Johns, NL; and Heather
(Jim) Finn, of Vancouver, BC; sons, Raymond Jr. (Marisete) Wiseman, of
New Glasgow; and Brian (Wilma) Wiseman, of Toronto, ON; brother, David
(Judy) Woodworth, of Alberta; 23 grandchildren, 11 great
grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her
parents, she was predeceased by her devoted husband, Raymond John
Wiseman (2024); son, John Wiseman; sister, Shirley (Tom) Carter; and
brother, Garnet Woodworth.
Special thanks to
Helen’s daughter, Charlene, who cared for Helen with
compassion and grace, with the assistance of Careforce and Annapolis
Valley Angel Care, which allowed her to stay in her home for as long
as possible; as well as to Grand View Manor, Berwick, for their care
for Helen in her final month.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service for Helen
will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 in St.
Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville with a reception
to follow. Father John MacPherson officiating. In lieu of flowers,
donations in memory may be made to Fidelis House or the St.
Joseph’s Catholic Women’s League (CWL). Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
