It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Young of Nanton, AB, announce her passing on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 90 years.
Helen Joan Bondy was born at Nanton, Alberta in 1935, and has lived in Nanton her whole life. An interesting fact is that she was born less than a block from her last home at Silver Willow Lodge. Helen had a very successful career working first for the CIBC and then enjoyed 27 years with the Alberta Treasury Branch before her retirement in 1993.
During all the years that Helen lived in Nanton she volunteered many hours to several different organizations including the Rebekahs and Eastern Star.
Helen married Kenneth Bruce Young in 1953 and they enjoyed 67 years together before Bruce’s passing almost exactly 5 years before on April 2, 2020 at age 90.
Helen is also predeceased by; her father Ralph and mother Beva (nee: Jewell) (who were among the first residents at Silver Willow Lodge when it was built in 1977), and sisters Marie, Evelyn, and Jean, and brother Joe. She is survived by daughters Becky (Gary) and Pam (Tim), and son Ken, her grandchildren Brandon, Jason, Kristie, and Kelby, and her brother Carl. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wilters and the staff at Silver Willow lodge who have been amazing, everyone giving Helen the best of care. A huge thank you to you all for your kindhearted support.
