It is with profound sadness to share the passing of my incredible husband Hector who left us peacefully on January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
A devoted husband and father, Hector is survived by his ride or die wife Shawn, their children Christopher (Norma), Scott, Alison (Sandy), and Shelbi (Mike), and his treasured grandchildren Dani-Lyn, Leighton, Brody, Zoey, Mila, and Harlow. He is also survived by his siblings Ramsay (Mary – predeceased), Ken (Holly), and Shona (Trevor). Predeceased by his parents Ewen and Betty MacDonald. He was never far from his fur babies Jura and Loch. He will be missed by his mother-in- law Kerry Oliver, brother-in-law to Shannon (Rick), and Ben (Dakota), and many other family members in Canada, Scotland, and England, and incredible friends – too many to mention.
Born in Bridge of Allan, Scotland, Hector cherished his heritage, and as such had a fierce passion for bagpiping and all things tartan. He worked 40 years at Dofasco, embodying resilience and dedication. He loved hockey and all things sports. Hector’s love for sport inspired his children and grandchildren. His zest for life was reflected through his love of golf, travelling with Shawn, motorcycles, live music and camping.
Hector’s humour, strength, and warmth left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be forever missed by his many friends and family in Canada, Scotland, and England.
As per Hector’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held on February 22, 2025, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 435 Limeridge Road East, Hamilton, ON L9A 5G6. Please dress in denim with any sports or Harley attire. Any pipers feel free to bring your pipes to play a tune or two collectively. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to any charity or cause.
