Harold Stephen Quigley
1942-2025
It is with great
sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Stephen Quigley (82).
Formally of Glace Bay, NS, Harold died peacefully at home on February
6, 2025. Born on October 24, 1942, Harold was the eldest son of the
late William and Esther Quigley.
Harold purchased his
first tire store in Kentville back in 1974, known today as Valley Tire
Ltd. and he grew his business to include stores in Bridgewater and
Halifax. All who knew him, knew he could be found hard at work in his
office, any time of the day or evening and that dedication continued
right to the end. Harold was the past president of the Atlantic Tire
Dealers Association and understood how important his staff and the
local community was for supporting his business for over 50
years.
In his younger years,
Harold was an avid drag and off-road racer. He was one of the founding
members of the Kings County 4×4 Club and he continued to support the
club as treasurer long after he retired from driving. Over the years,
Harold has given back to his community by sponsorship. Numerous clubs,
youths’ teams, and nonprofit organizations have come to
trust and rely on Valley Tire’s community
support.
Harold is survived by
his wife, Donna (Sinclair) Quigley; his children, Stephen (Lisa) and
Derek (Vanessa); and his grandchildren, Emma (Steven), Mathew,
Brandon, Ryan, and Joshua. Harold is also survived by his brother,
Bill (Marianne) and family; sister, Shirlee (Leigh); brother-in-law,
Jack (Gladys); sister-in-law, Jean (Tim); sister-in-law, Laura (Jim);
and nieces and nephews.
The family would like
to thank the EHS Paramedics, the RCMP officers, and the staff at White
Family Funeral home for their kindness and compassion during a
difficult time.
There will be a public
visitation on Tuesday, February 11th from 7-9 p.m. in the White Family
Funeral Home, Kentville. There will be a private family service at a
later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity
of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White
Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
