It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold J. Samson, 81 of Louisdale on October 31, 2025.
Harold was the youngest child of 10 born to Minnie and Albert Samson of Little Anse on July 8, 1944.
At completion of school, Harold worked at the VG Infirmary in Halifax. He moved on to schooling to become a Millwright. The start of this trade, he worked at Nova scotia Power, and the last of his trade for Port Hawkesbury Paper. Harold was a skilled and well-respected man. He was hard working and a wonderful provider for his family. He will always be remembered for the soft kind of love he showed his family. Harold was known as “Pops” by his children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to name a few. The happiness they brought him when they were around was indescribable. He truly enjoyed every moment spent with them. If you were looking for Harold in his retirement years you could find him and Linda on a trip to Las Vegas, Halifax, or Moncton. If they weren’t gone for a weekend away, they were at a Senior’s night at the hall.
One thing you could be sure of was that our “Pops” was as sharp as a tack. He could figure out what he needed to build a garage, and still not, have enough wood left over for a bonfire… his calculations were just that precise. Throughout his illness of 11 years, he was hopeful, gave us courage to stay strong. His wife Linda cared for him with love, comfort, and compassion.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Linda; daughters, Sonya (Craig), and Pam (Arthur); stepsons, Ian (Sue), and Chad (Dawn); grandchildren, Brett (Karter), Katie, and Joe; great granddaughters. Briar, and Lilah, and his step grandchildren, Jonah (Shauna), Caleb, Josh, Jacob, Taylor, and Hayden, and step great grandchild Atlas. He is also survived by his siblings, Leopold (Eileen), Yvonne Field, and Margaret Landry; sister-in-law, Barb Samson.
Harold was predeceased by his first loving wife of 32 years, Bernadette Samson, who passed away in 1999. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Ralph, Leo, and Alfred; sisters, Martha, Mary, Edith, and parents Minnie and Albert Samson.
Visitation will be held on November 6th, 2025 in the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale from 6-8 pm.
Funeral Mass to Celebrate the Life of Harold will be held Friday, November 7th at 11 am in St. Louis Catholic Church, Louisdale, Cofficiated by Father Duncan MacIsaac. Committal to take place in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale. A reception will be held in St. Louis Parish Hall, Louisdale following the committal.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., in Arichat.
