Grace Roach
1935-2025
Peacefully and with her family by her side, Grace Elizabeth Roach of
Perth-Andover, NB, passed away at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital on
the evening of May 7, 2025.
Grace was born in Four Falls, NB, on February 17, 1935. She was the
daughter of the late Winfred Charles and Mabel (Bourgoine) Murchison.
Grace is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Joseph Roach;
her grandson, Kendall Graydon Pelkey; her brothers, Arnold (Rowena),
Roy (Hilda), Samuel (Dorothy), Thomas, and Patrick (Linda); her
sisters, Elva (Harold), Alberta (Bert), Rowena (John), and Ruby.
Grace will be sorely missed by her daughters, Debbie (Randy McNally),
Susan MacIntosh, Marilyn (Stephen Pelkey), Anna Marie (Donald
Lukewich), Sandra (Adrian Pelkey); her only son, David Roach; her
sister, Kathleen (Francis McCarthy); her brother, Charles Murchison;
well as 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and two great great
grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Grace was well known in the community throughout her career as a sales
clerk at Stedman’s Department Store and later as the manager of The
Good Value Department Store. In her early years, she was an active
member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Branch #36, of the Royal Canadian
Legion in Perth-Andover, NB, of which her husband, Kenneth, was also a
member. As members of the Perth-Andover Curling Club, they enjoyed
competitive curling for which they received numerous trophies. They
also loved traveling, dancing, gardening, long walks and scenic
drives. Grace was also a long time member of Tobicrafters (quilters).
Later in her retirement years, she took great pride in her time
helping with the breakfast club and reading program at Andover
Elementary, enjoyed her time with the Keenagers, especially the many
outings and card parties and volunteering throughout the
community.
Grace was an avid reader and consumer of countless books. She had many
interests and special talents, including but certainly not limited to
sewing, knitting, gardening, as well as creating beautiful quilts with
much love and proudly displayed in many homes of her children and
grandchildren.
With all of Grace’s passions, the one thing that she loved the most
was time spent with her family, being a loving daughter, sister, wife,
mother, and grandmother.
Resting at Brunswick Funeral Home with visitation on Monday from 6-9
pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11 am
from Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Aroostook, NB. Father
Gilbert Doddatto as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish
cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to donate to the Tobicrafters, the
breakfast program at Andover Elementary, or the charity of your
choice.
