It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mum, Grace Alexandrina Lingard on March 20, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Cambridge, Ontario, at the age of 98.

Cherished Nanny to Mark Drinkwalter (Ingrid), Troy Drinkwalter, Bart Lingard (Lisanne), Brian O’Brien Jr., (Ani), Cody O’Brien, Rauchelle Roy, Shaun Roy, Meagan Beveridge (Andrew) and Matthew den Hartog.
Step- Nanny to Michelle Silva, Rhonda Charlton, Lindsay Blasdell and their families.
Great- Nanny to Nicholas (Meagan), Branden (Hali), Sierra (Ryan), Cheyenne (Nick), Brady, “Nanny Mac” to Keyon, Mia, Presley, and “Nana Grace” to Grace, Gavin, Rylan, Easton and Braxton.
Great-Great Nanny to Macie and Emery.
In addition to Dad, Mum was predeceased by her younger sister Evelyn Bryant (2019), and her sons-in -law, Allan Drinkwalter (2011) and Brian O’Brien (2013).
Mum was affectionately known to her family and friends as Micky, a nickname bestowed upon her as a child by her Granddad Hovell.
Mum often spoke about her childhood, growing up in war torn London, being evacuated, and waiting in earnest for the love of her life to return home from the Army.
Mum and Dad immigrated to Canada with Janice and John, first settling in Preston, then moving to Galt, where she lived the remainder of her life. Mum was a retiree of Hostess Foods in Cambridge. A lifelong follower of Arsenal Football Club, an avid reader and devoted fan of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, often shouting answers at the TV! Mum’s quick wit and sense of humor were with her right until the end and will be missed by all who loved her.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks for the wonderful care received from Dr. Celine Sandor, Michelle, her primary care nurse Christina from Paramed and especially her loving PSW Nehema. We would also like to extend our thanks to Reverend Paul Poolton and Reverend Frank Squires for their prayers of comfort.
In accordance with Mum`s wishes, a private family cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held for Family and Friends on Sunday, April 6th at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N. Cambridge Ontario, from 2-5 p.m.
