Unexpectedly at his home, Gordon David “Gord” Garioch passed Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the age of 70 after an 18-month battle with cancer. Loved dad to Douglas Garioch (Ashley Christina) & coming grandchild. Pre-deceased by his wife Jackie Garioch as well as his mom, Helen. Gord will be missed greatly by his father Victor Garioch and his sister Elinor Copeland (Tom). Gord was a loved partner to Nancy Buott. He will be remembered fondly by all of his extended family and friends including his cousins in Scotland.
Gord was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. He emigrated with his parents in the late 50’s. Gord was an avid open-wheel racing fan. In his 20’s Gord was involved in Mini Cooper, Formula 1600 and Formula 2000 racing. Many summer weekends were spent at Mosport where he had the good fortune to work with drivers and crew chiefs who would go on to the highest levels of motorsports.
After retirement, Gord and Nancy enjoyed spending time with friends at their boat in Hastings.
As per Gord’s wishes, there will be no formal service at this time and an interment will take place in the Spring of 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Community Care Northumberland.
