STARLING, Gordon David
It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to Gordon David Starling at the age of 81. Gord passed away peacefully among his family at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. Gord was one of four siblings born in Timmins, Ontario to Irene (Boucher) and Leslie Robert Starling. The last surviving sibling of Peggy Monaghan, Robert Starling and William Starling. Gord is predeceased by his wife Cecile (Sirois) who passed on too early in life and later by Susan Starling (Wemyss) whom he also loved very dearly. Gordon treasured his children Gordon Jr, Shelly (Andre Brisebois), Patricia (Michael Dahiroc), David (Sylvie Duval) and his extended family Tracey, Erica, Brooklyn Elden and Glen Martin. Grandfather to Aaron, Savannah, Jacob, Oakley and Duffy.
Gord spent a 40-year career devoted to supporting the Caterpillar equipment brand and it’s customers. It was often described that Gord’s blood was CAT yellow.
Gord loved life to the fullest, whether it was watching or attending NASCAR races, cooking massive pots of chilli and spaghetti sauce, travelling, fishing or being Mr. Fix-it.
No matter what he did or where he was, he could be found with his dog. Max, Duchess, Keisha, Cricket and Duchess 2.0 were by his side where ever he went. He was a profound lover of all animals, big and small.
Gord will always be remembered for his willingness to help his neighbours whenever they were in need. He’ll also be remembered for the way these times of support almost always involved a celebration of the day. “It’s twelve O’clock somewhere” was the common phrase.
Dad, we will all miss the witty one liners and your unbelievable escapades. You are truly one of a kind and completely irreplaceable. The hole you are leaving in our hearts will take a long time to heal.
