Glenn Scullion, ARCT Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glenn David Robert Scullion on January 4, 2025, at home, surrounded by his wife Marlene and children Patti and Mark. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, and friend to many, Glenn faced his illness with remarkable courage and grace.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Glenn had an accomplished 38-year career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). His work took him to Ottawa, Edmonton, Montréal, Toronto, and Europe, where he made significant contributions, including his involvement in the highly-acclaimed Music of Man documentary and television coverage of the 1976 Montréal Olympic Games. Outside his professional life, Glenn was an accomplished and passionate pianist; having won many a piano competition in his teenage years, and who in1955 achieved the designation Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music Toronto in piano performance. A second career awaited Glenn following his retirement from the CBC when, alongside his wife Marlene, became a hospitality-industry entrepreneur, opening the reputable Spruceholme Inn & Dining Room in Fort-Coulonge, Québec to the people of the Pontiac (Outaouais) region.
Glenn leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Marlene Patricia Cooper; daughter Patti-Lynn Hone (Bruce); son Glenn Mark Scullion (Hossam); granddaughter Amelia Hone (Alex); and great-granddaughter Ourea Hone-Sernoski. Glenn loved people; young and old. He took interest in everyone he met. He loved sports: football, hockey, tennis and soccer; and was quite the athlete in his day. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful man. If you had the privilege of calling him friend, you were blessed. His warmth, humour and wisdom will remain cherished by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers who provided support and comfort during Glenn’s final days.
At Glenn’s request, a private memorial service and interment will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Glenn’s memory.
“His love, wisdom, and music will live on in our hearts forever.”
