Glendon Ross Bennett
– 83, longtime resident of Canning, passed away peacefully
on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Charles and Etta (Wood)
Bennett.
Prior to retirement,
Glendon worked for Maple Leaf Poultry, Shur-Gain Feeds and helped on
several local farms around the Valley. He had a passion for music like
no other. From a young boy to his final days, he always had music
playing, a stereo in every room of his house and a vast collection of
tapes, CD’s and records. His all time favourite genre was
country, especially Hank Snow and Hank Williams.
Glendon is survived by
his sister, Elsie Dryden, Salmon River; and brother, Kenny Bennett,
Halifax; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his
parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Rita, Evelyn and Annie; and
brothers, Gary and Phillip.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service
will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14 in the White Family
Funeral Home, Kentville. Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. Interment
will take place in Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County, at a later
date.
Donations in memory
may be made to Canning and Area Food Bank. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
