McKnight, Gladys (Nee Calver)
Gladys was born on February 18, 1949 in Sudbury Ontario. She was the youngest of 5 (Ann, Allan, Eddie, Bobby). She spent her younger years growing up there enjoying back country fishing trips with her father and winter activities such as cross country skiing, skating and ice fishing. She had many cherished family pets.
In her teen years her family settled in Acton, Ontario where her love of the outdoors and sports continued. She played on Acton’s first female softball team, was a member of the basketball team as well as participated in archery, wrestling, track and field and excelled in the high jump.
When she was 22 she married the love of her life David. She became an instant mother of 4 (late Debra, Doug, Jamie and Janet). Her and David had two children together, Trevor (Kimberley) and Melissa to complete their family.
Gladys was dedicated to her family and had a deep devotion to her faith. She was a hard worker and supported her husband in his business.
She enjoyed visiting extended family regularly, often packing up her kids and the car to go on road trips for visits. Gladys was a planner and loved hosting many wedding and baby showers. She also planned awesome family vacations from driving coast to coast across Canada, many northern camping trips as well as several US states. Where she really shined was becoming a grandmother (Lindsey, Morghan (Brenndan), Kaleb [Alyssa]), great grandmother (Torin, Piper, Willow) and then a great, great grandmother. She loved all her grandchildren and enjoyed taking them on exciting adventures and camping trips.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Please monitor the funeral home’s website for details to be announced.
