Obituary of Giuseppina “Josephine” DiGuglielmo
Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025 at The Village of Glendale Crossing London, Ontario at the age of 100. Josephine was predeceased by her loving husband Antonio (Tony) in 2011 after 62 years of marriage. She was born in Lama dei Peligni, Italy on June 28, 1924 to wonderful parents Filippo and Francesca DiFabrizio. Josephine was a loving sister to Rosa (2011) and her husband Vincenzo Ficca (2002). Also beloved and missed by sister Anna and her husband Aldo Piccoli (2022). Predeceased by brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws Michele (Erminia) DiGuglielmo, Angelo (Rudy) DiGuglielmo, Maddalena (Domenico) D’Alessandro and Luisa (Angelo) Dorazio. Josephine was a caring, loving mother figure to many of her nieces and nephews including Joe (Nicolina) Ficca, Tony Ficca, Carol Ficca, Adelina (Jeff) Bozek, Franca (Jeff) Smith, and Maria (Dean) Zimmermann. Also on her husbands side Maria (late Erminio) Dorazio, Clara (Emidio) DiLullo, Tony (Carmela) D’Alessandro and Mario (Antonietta) D’Alessandro. Predeceased by niece Filomena and husband Erminio Masciantonio. Also sadly missed by dear Compari Maria (late Nicola) Piccoli and children Mario and Rita. Josephine had many relatives, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, Godchildren and Compari here in Canada, USA, Italy and Australia. Tony and Josephine immigrated to Canada in the late 1950’s and once they got settled, they generously opened up their home to many new comers to help them as they settled in Canada.
Josephine was a kind, sweet and generous woman, she was a talented seamstress, a wonderful cook and a great gardener. We were blessed to have her for 100 years. We love you Zia!
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at The Village of Glendale Crossing for all their care over the last 6 years.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Parish, 345 Lyle Street, London on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00am. Those wishing to join the Funeral Mass via a true livestream, please CLICK HERE.
