Valerio, Giuseppe (Joseph)
Peacefully surrounded by his family at LHSC University Hospital, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, Giuseppe Valerio, at the age of 97 years passed away into Gods open arms. Beloved husband of 64 years of Santa (nee Santoro) Valerio. Loving father of Joseph Valerio (Sandra), John Valerio (Matoula) and Lucrezia Valerio (Frank). Proud grandpa of Lucas Valerio (Brittany) and great grandpa to their daughter Mila. Dear brother of the late Franco Valerio (the late Carmela), Rosaria Ciriello (the late Antonio), the late Gaetano Valerio (the late Irene), the late Lucia Cavaliere (the late Erman), Santina Ruggiero (the late Domenico), the late Antonio Valerio, the late Cosimo Valerio, Tina Contursi (Angelo), Carmela Cimmarusti (Lino) and Maria Magistrale (Tony). Giuseppe will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
Giuseppe was a church restoration artist and carpenter, and extremely devoted to his faith, blending these qualities into his choice of occupation. He restored churches in Italy, Eastern Canada, Quebec, and Ontario with a sense of pride and admiration. Giuseppe was a very proud Canadian and appreciated the great bounty this country had given him. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed the London community for many decades.
Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday, May 22 from 11am until 12:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Thursday afternoon, May 22 at 1 o’clock. Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
