It is with great sorrow that we announce his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the age of 74 years. Gilbert is survived by his children: Raymond Fortier of Ottawa and Natalie Snider (Jesse) of Temiskaming Shores, his grandchildren: Alexandre, Cassandre, Arlena May, Jordan and Eric, and his great granddaughter Everleigh. Also left behind are his siblings; André (Johanne) of St-Basile-le-Grand, QC, Roland of Toronto, Jeannine of Niagara Falls, Daniel (Denyse) of Timmins, Claudette Morissette (Mark) of Porcupine, several nephews and nieces, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Gérard (2006) and Jacqueline (2010) Fortier, his brother Gaëtan Fortier (2015) and his sister Madeleine Fortier (1978). A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses from the Timmins and District Hospital, and to Serge McLean of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home for his compassionate and professional services. As per his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins. C’est avec grande tristesse que nous annonçons son décès à l’Hôpital de Timmins et du District, le mardi 31 décembre, 2024 à l’âge de 74 ans. Gilbert est survécu par ses enfants: Raymond Fortier d’Ottawa et Natalie Snider (Jesse) de Temiskaming Shores, ses petits enfants: Alexandre, Cassandre, Arlena May, Jordan et Eric, ainsi que son arrière petite fille Everleigh. Il est aussi survécu par ses frères et sœurs: André (Johanne) de St Basile-le-Grand, QC, Roland de Toronto, Jeannine de Niagara Falls, Daniel (Denyse) de Timmins et Claudette Morissette (Mark) de Porcupine, plusieurs neveux, nièces, oncles, cousins et cousines. Il fut prédécédé par ses parents Gérard (2006) et Jacqueline (2010) Fortier, son frère Gaëtan Fortier (2015), ainsi que sa soeur Madeleine Fortier (1978). Un merci spécial à tous les médecins et infirmières de l’Hôpital de Timmins et du district, ainsi qu’à Serge McLean du Salon funéraire Miron-Wilson pour sa compassion et professionnalisme. Selon ses souhaits, l’incinération a eu lieu et une célébration de vie aura lieu à une date ultérieure. Les dons commémoratifs à l’Association Pulmonaire du Canada seront grandement appréciés.
