Gilbert Louis Webb
passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, following a brief illness.
He was born to Jean and Louis Webb on April 17, 1942.
Predeceased by his
parents, Gil will forever be loved and remembered by his cherished
wife, Sandra Foreman-Webb; sons, Mark and Tim (Carolyn); daughter,
Peggy (Paul); grandchildren, Isaac, Aidan, Owen, Laurel, Klayton, and
Dawson; sister, Margaret Mabey (the late Gerry) of Saint John;
brother, Donald (Irene) of Cheltenham, ON; sister in law, Linda
Steeves (the late Peter); brother in law James Steeves (Sandy) and a
number of very special nieces and nephews.
Gil grew up in
Centreville, New Brunswick, in a proud and successful family that grew
primarily potatoes for McCain Foods. Upon graduation, he worked
briefly for the Bank of Nova Scotia before seeking opportunities in
Ontario and Alberta. He and his first wife, Dianne (Steeves), settled
in Ontario before returning to New Brunswick, where they both worked
in education at NBCC, Moncton. During these years, they enjoyed family
and motorcycle trips. It was a great loss to Gil and the rest of the
family when his dear wife, Diane succumbed to Alzheimer’s at
a young age.
Gil had many hobbies,
including toy trains, snowmobiling, skiing, refereeing hockey,
hunting, fishing, golfing, and, of course, growing potatoes. He also
enjoyed woodworking and recently served as President of the Codiac
Woodworkers Guild. He particularly enjoyed his side-by-side adventures
out to the log cabin which he helped build with his best friend, Jack
Ayles.
In 2012, Gil married
Sandra (Hurley Foreman). He cherished their time together
and the relationships he formed with Sandra’s children,
Terry, Jeffrey (Alberta), and Andrea (Nova Scotia), as well as their
families. Together, they enjoyed many vacations and happy times with
family, friends and golfers. Sports played a central role in
their lives, and there wasn’t a sporting event in Moncton
that they didn’t attend.
The family would like
to express their particular gratitude to the wonderful staff in the
neurology and palliative care units at the Moncton Hospital for their
wonderful care and compassion.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road, Riverview (506-869-2007) on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025 from
6:00 – 8:00 PM with a service celebrating his life to be
held from Mount Royal United Church on Wednesday, January
22nd at 11:00 AM. Donations may be made to
Mount Royal United Church, The Friends of The Moncton Hospital, or to
the Albert House. Online condolences may be sent to www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
