Obituary
It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gida Lillian Janes who passed away on February 27h, 2025 at the age of 79. A loving wife, mother, sister. Aunt and friend. Gida was born in Deer Lake on June 30th 1945, to the late Nathan and Gladys Goulding.
Gida’s greatest pride and joy were her family. She married the love of her life, the late Clayton Janes and together they raised 2 beautiful daughters Lisa Janes and Connie (Darren) Dennis. They created a home full of warmth, love and laughter. They welcomed family and friends and even strangers into their home. Always extra mouths to feed and always enough food to feed whomever showed up. Gida loved to sew and was often seen making curtains, hemming pants, sewing on buttons or making tiny doll clothes. Gida was very creative and loved trying new recipe; “Yum, that’s some good” she would say. She always had a little bag of goodies for you to take home.
Gida was a woman of strong faith. There were many challenges in her life and she would pray to the Lord for guidance. She spoke freely and honestly of the confidence and strength she felt in the power of prayer.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sisters; Eunice Tobin (Pat), Christine Cullihall (Eugene), Betty Hayden (Bob), Marie Goulding, Louise Goulding (Ron), and her brother Dave Goulding (Paulette). Sister-in-law; Judy Bingle (Woodrow), brothers-in-law; Otto Janes (Agnes), Waldo Janes (Bernice). As well as several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Gida was predeceased by her husband Clayton (2015), parents Nathan g Gladys Goulding, brothers; Allister, Norman, Gerald and her sister Annie, her sisters-in-law; Betty Jerrett, Margaret Carter, Laura Janes, brothers-in-law; Raymond Carter, Eric Janes, Len Janes.
