On Monday, January 20, 2025, Gerrit Pater of Morrison Lake, Killworthy ON, passed away at the age of 87 years at home, which he called “my paradise”.
Gerrit was the father of Evert Pater of Brentwood Bay, BC, and Janneke Hanna and her husband Corey of Cochrane, AB. He was Opa to Sage and Marlie Hanna. Gerrit was the widower of Jantina van Hulst and the former husband of Mieke Schipper of Kawartha Lakes, ON. He also leaves behind his sister Anneke and her family in Hawaii and two brothers, Evert and Mengs Wulfert in The Netherlands. He will also be missed by his friend Marie Hewitt of Whitby, ON.
Gerrit was born in Baarn, the Netherlands and came to Canada with his family in 1976 to settle near Bobcaygeon ON. Soon thereafter he moved to Toronto and from there to Killworthy.
Cremation has taken place. The family plans a gathering on Morrison Lake at a later date.
