Gerhard Weidelich Sr, 92, of Aurora, Ontario, died February 7, 2025 at Margaret Bahen Hospice.
He was born on March 27, 1932 in Friedenstal, Bessarabia to Immanuel and Margaret Weidelich.
Gerhard married Berta Gabert on September 19th, 1953 in Truchtelfingen Germany.
The couple immigrated to Canada with their son Gerhard in 1956 and settled in Toronto.
They joined Warden Full Gospel Assembly (then named Christus Kirche) upon arrival and remained faithful members for the rest of their lives. Gerhard served on the Board for many years and taught the adult Sunday school class for 20 years.
Three daughters were added to family: Brigitte, Gabi and Inge. In time came a daughter-in-law Kathy and 3 son-in-laws, Werner, Michael and Darren followed by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Gerhard started Gaydon Contractors Limited in 1969, a contracting firm that continues to this day.
Gerhard retired from Gaydon in 1994. Not one to sit back, he spent the next 20 years volunteering at Bethel Park Camp as the facilities director and also for some years as the President of the Board. Gerhard and Berta never missed the summer camp season until last year when it became impossible to go.
Gerhard is survived by his wife of 72 years Berta, his children, Gerhard, Brigitte, Gabi and Inge, daughter-in-law Kathy, and sons-in-law Michael and Darren, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur, Klara, Oscar, Leopold, Hugo and Klaus and his son-in-law Werner Rienas.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 14 th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cedarview Community Church (1000 Gorham St., Newmarket, Ontario). Visitation will also take place on Saturday morning, February 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Cedarview.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 15 th at 11:00 a.m. at Cedarview Community Church (1000 Gorham St., Newmarket, Ontario)
