Gérard (Gerry) Demers Obituary
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Demers family announces the passing of Gérard (Gerry) Demers on December 25th 2024 at the age of 72 years. Special companion of the late Evelyn Shay for many years. He leaves to mourn his daughter Francine (Patrick) and her mother Jackie as well as his only grandson Damien. Gérard was the son of the late Alphire (Freckles) Demers and the late Zita Mainville. Brother of the late Kenneth (Jocelyne), Madeleine (late Aurel), Jacques (Delisca), Rolland (late Monique), Donald (late Lucy), Marcel (Arline) and his little sister Claire (late Jacques). Survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. Special thanks to his good friends Gerald, Gilbert, Josée, Éric, Roger and Andy.
His love for hockey (GO Habs GO) and his Bingo. Gérard was a Bartender for the Royal Canadian Air Force and also at the Bell’s Corner Legion in Ottawa and Harvey’s in Hull for many years. He will be remembered for his big hearts his kindness and his good sense of humor.
Not to forget his beloved Fur Baby of 17 years and always been by his side, Little Snoopy.
Special thanks to all the staff at the Pembroke Regional Hospital and also to the staff at the Greystone Manor Village Retirement in Ottawa and to all the staff at the Caressant Care Retirement Home in Cobden, especially Raj.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 30th 2025 in St. Alphonsus Church, Chapeau, Quebec at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in parish cemetery in the spring.
As Gerry would say…”Thank God I’m a country boy)”
