Obituary of Gerald A. Grant
It is with saddened hearts the family announce the unexpected passing of Gerald Allen Grant on January 24th, 2025, at the Charlotte County Hospital. Born in St. Stephen, N.B. on September 29th, 1939, to late parents Clara (Savoy) and Lester Grant.
Gerald served in the Canadian Armed Forces until 1968. A carpenter by trade, Gerald joined his siblings in the family business, L.M. Grant & Sons Ltd., which was well known for building houses and other buildings throughout the local area. In addition to being a family man he loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He and Jeannine enjoyed social time playing phase 10 and rummy with friends. He secretly enjoyed their hobby farm in the heart of Milltown when Jeannine would often bring home another animal. He was a proud man, who would do anything to keep his family happy. He also had a great sense of humour, as bold as it was memorable.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Jeannine Grant (Beausoleil), daughter Nancy MacDonald (Lance), son Allen Grant (Donna), grandchildren Ashley (Tim), Chelsey (Taylor), Brandon (Paige), Shaelynn (Geoffrey), sister Pauline Murphy (Russ), daughter-in-law Nicole (Daniel), great grandchildren Cooper, Chase and Wesley, and many extended nephews, nieces, great nephew and nieces.
Gerald was predeceased by baby brother Hester Grant, sister Florence Dickerson, sister Eileen Belyea, brother Horace “Brud” Grant, and brother Hazen Grant.
By Gerald’s request, cremation will take place. There will be no visitation or service at this time. There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of one’s choice is appreciated by the family. Online condolences to the family or donations can be made at www.humphreysfh
