MASTERS: Gerald Burns – passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Sakura House.
Beloved husband of Carol (Perry), who he married February 5, 1966. Dear father of David and wife Wanda of Woodstock, Lisa and husband Steve Carberry of Hickson, Jamie of Ottawa and Paul of Woodstock. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Aearial (Tanner), Jessie (Jason), Clayton, Rebecca and great-granddaughter Kali. Gerald will also be remembered fondly by his extended family on both the Perry and Masters sides.
Predeceased by his parents Burns and Margaret (Sim) Masters, his brother Lloyd and sister-in-law Violet Masters.
Gerald retired in 2007 after 45 years of driving for Kingslea and Noblewood Transport. His work carried over into his passion for collecting toy trucks and tractors, a hobby he pursued with Paul for almost 40 years.
Gerald was a simple, practical man who enjoyed summer trips to the Bruce Peninsula, searching for deals at Saturday garage sales and watching the ponies circle the track. He was also a long-time member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Woodstock where he served many years on the Board of Managers as well as running the lift on Sunday mornings.
Relatives and friends will be received at the Smith-Leroy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington Street N, Woodstock on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. The funeral service will be conducted at Knox Presbyterian Church, Woodstock on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:00am. Reception to follow. Spring interment at Burgessville Baptist Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff at the Woodstock Hospital Dialysis Unit for over 5 years of excellent care and the staff and volunteers at Sakura House for their support and compassion in Gerald’s final days.
