George Wrobel
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Wrobel, who confronted for years the work of living with cancer and who departed this life in peace. A devout Catholic, a dedicated teacher and a steadfast friend, George touched countless lives with his wisdom, ironic wit and unwavering commitment to ‘learning a living’ as Marshall McLuhan might say.
George will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Ruthanne, and his brother, Jack (Wanda). He was a cherished friend to many and his family thanks all in his sustaining and prayerful circle of colleagues, former students, neighbours, nephews, nieces, in-laws, and relatives from coast to coast in Canada and in Poland. Many are those who give thanks for his friendship and hold his memory in their hearts.
George’s life was guided by faith, compassion, and a strong sense of service to others. In keeping with his generous spirit, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honour to Covenant House or the Daily Bread Food Bank or to a charity of your choice.
Family and friends are welcomed to Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) for visitation on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 2-4 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave. W., at Dufferin St.) on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM. May he rest in eternal peace.
