Passed peacefully away surrounded by family at the Dr. Albert O’Mahony Memorial Manor in Clarenville, on June 4, 2025, George Guy of Lethbridge in his 78th year. Predeceased by his parents Harvey and Delilah Guy; parents-in-law Jabez and Jane Holloway; brothers Cecil Guy and Ross Guy, baby brother-in-law William Holloway; sisters-in-law Charity Guy and Verlie Humby, niece Karen Guy; great-nephew Terry Shane.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of happy memories his wife Elsie of 54 years, nephews Terry (Nancy), Derrick (Solonge), Bruce (Lisa), nieces Marilyn (Larry), Sherry (Byron) Angela (Curt); great-nephews Brian, Tyler, Corey, Ryan and Cody; great-nieces Ashley, Leslie, Allison, Laura, Cassandra, Courtney and Taylor; great-great nieces Abigail and Jane; sister-in-law Roberta Guy; brother-in-law Wayde Humby, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at the Golden Heights Manor Nursing Home where George resided from 2022 – 2023 and the Dr. Albert O’Mahoney Memorial Manor where he resided from 2023-2025. Special thanks as well to the staff at the G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital who cared for George during his last days, as well as Fewer’s Funeral Home for the professionalism during this difficult time.
George was born in Lethbridge on December 3, 1946, where he continued to reside with his wife Elsie for most of his life. He went on to follow in the footsteps of his father by working with Abitibi Price in Millertown. Here he worked as a boat operator towing pulpwood down the Exploits River and continued this work until he became disabled in 1986.
Though going through this setback was difficult for George, he was strong and his passion for working, especially in the woods, never waivered. He kept himself busy with cutting wood, snowblowing for many of his neighbours and playing games with friends and family.
Though George and Elsie never had children, George enjoyed time with his nieces and nephews and their childhood friends. He was always up to something mischievous to keep everyone on their toes.
His life was a true reflection of strength and resilience, no matter what obstacles he needed to overcome. The medical challenges he faced, both after becoming disabled, as well as the decline in his health in later years, defined his long journey of perseverance and spirit.
Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Lethbridge on Thursday, June 5th, 2025 from 7-9 pm & Friday, June 6th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at 2 pm from the Islandview Citadel Salvation Army, Musgravetown. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery Musgravetown.
