We are sad to announce the passing of George Grendahl at 100 years of age.
He was born south of Parkside, Saskatchewan on October 27, 1924 to Oscar and Kerstin Grendahl. He had an older sister Phyllis.
George spent most of his life in Parkside. His occupations included farming, logging, road construction, carpentry, oil furnace installations, janitorial and school maintenance.
George married Audrey Martin in 1947 and they had two daughters, Marie and Kathy.
George and Audrey were members of Parkside Pentecostal Church. George was active on the church board, playing guitar and violin and singing with family and others. He also served on the town council, always ready to help anyone needing assistance.
George and Audrey loved fishing, camping and travelling to B.C. to visit family.
After Audrey passed away in 2008, George moved to Langley, B.C. to live with his daughter Kathy. The last three years of his life were spent at Mountain View Manor, a care home in Ladner, B.C.
George celebrated his 100th Birthday with family members and met his first great great granddaughter.
On February 17, 2025 George passed away with his daughters by his side. His cremains will be buried in the Parkside Cemetery.
He was predeceased by his wife Audrey, his parents Oscar and Kerstin, sister Phyllis, and son-in-law Bill Bakken.
George is lovingly remembered by daughters Marie and Kathy, Grandchildren; Trevor [Michelle]Bakken, Trent [Nancy] Bakken, Carl [Rina] Tingstad, Arne [Wendy] Tingstad, Jan Tingstad, 9 great grandchildren; Taylor, Bowen, Colton, Jacob, Saige, Mattias, Owen, Ava, Elle and one great great granddaughter Monroe.
