KARCHEWSKI, George Anton
June 15, 1961 – March 20, 2025
With broken hearts, we share the sudden and unexpected passing of George Anton Karchewski on March 20, 2025, at the age of 63.
George was the rock of his family—a man who lived with kindness, humor, and a deep love for those around him. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl, with whom he shared nearly 40 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised a family that meant everything to him. A devoted father to Brandon (Anna), Kassie (Jeremy), and Sascha (Craig), he was always there with support, wisdom, and a well-timed joke. But nothing made him prouder than becoming Dido to his granddaughter, Bishop. From the moment she was born, she was the light of his life. He embraced his role as Dido with all his heart, spoiling her with love and creating memories that will last forever. There was no better Dido, and no one more excited to be one.
George was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Motia Karchewski, but their memory lived on in his stories and traditions. He also shared a special bond with his father-in-law, Jim McConnell, and cherished the time they spent together.
A hardworking and dedicated man, George spent nearly 50 years with Loblaws, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of countless coworkers. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to bring a smile to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by many in the Loblaws family.
Beyond work, George had a true gift with his hands. A master woodworker, he could turn a simple piece of wood into something beautiful and lasting. Whether crafting something for his family or tinkering away in his shop, he took great pride in his work. When he wasn’t in his workshop, you could often find him on the golf course in Petrolia, where he loved the game just as much as the company.
George lived life with a quiet strength and an easy smile. He was the kind of man who made people feel welcome, who worked hard, and who loved deeply. Though his time with us was far too short, the impact he had on those who knew him will never fade.
As per George’s wishes, there will be no formal service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, raise a glass, share a laugh, hit a few golf balls, or build something in his honor—he would have loved that.
Rest easy, George. You were loved more than words can say.
