On Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital, God called into His presence and glory, Geertje (Gerty) Schuurmans age 93. She longed for this glorious day. Whose tears are gone, whose sorrows have been turned into joy and is now at peace in the comforting arms of her Faithful Saviour Jesus Christ.
A loving resident of Viewmount Christian Homes for 40 years. She made many friends over the years. Many who came to look in on her in the last years of her stay there, for which her family is truly grateful.
Predeceased by husband Peter Schuurmans and her brothers Sjoerd de Roos and Oscar de Roos. Loving mother of Neil Schuurmans, Bill Schuurmans (Margaret), John Schuurmans (Kim Giardino), Anna Schuurmans (Victor Krasowski), Gertie Schuurmans, and Oscar Schuurmans (Susan). Cherished Beppe of Robin (Sean), Lori (Brandon), Christopher (Brianna), Gregory (Emily), Leah, Samantha (Martin), Julie (Jason), and great grandchildren Clara, Emmett, Jack, Vera, Ruby, Hayley, Maya, Hannah, Austin, Veronika. Gerty is survived by many nieces and nephews here in Canada and the Netherlands.
Gerty will rest at the First Christian Reformed Church, 2455 County Road 18, Kemptville on Wednesday February 19, 2025 from 1 to 2 pm where a Funeral Service will follow at 2:15 pm. Spring Interment Kemptville Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gerty may be made to the First Christian Reformed Church of Kemptville – Diaconate Fund
