Obituary for
Gary van Hout
Gary van Hout
January 6, 1964 – March 5, 2025
Gary van Hout passed away at the age of 61 after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his close family: his partner, Tracy (Scales); his children, Jessie (Greg) Justason and Hayden (Isabelle) Talsma, and his beloved grandchildren, Blake, Elizabeth, and Jessica.
A true sports fan, Gary could always be found cheering for his favorite teams, the Maple Leafs and the Cowboys. He also had a deep love for playing sports on a personal level, including baseball, golf, bowling, and darts. One of his favorite traditions was his annual football pool with his lifelong friends, which brought him joy year after year.
Gary spent most of his life in his hometown of Bowmanville, Ontario, before choosing to retire in Onslow, Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gary’s name to the Colchester SPCA.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer in Bowmanville, Ontario. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
Gary will be truly missed by all his friends and family.
