Obituary of Gary Mullin
James “Gary” Mullin, 84, of Oromocto New Brunswick, passed away on March 7, 2025, at the Veteran’s Health Unit in Fredericton, NB. He was born on June 28, 1940, in St. George, NB, to Edwin Sr. and Naomi Mullin, and had nine siblings; Hubert, Edwin Jr., Ralph, Mary, Madeline, Joseph, Beatrice, John and Paul. He was the last member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gail; sons, Michael (Rosanne) and Carl (Denise); six grandchildren, Calvin, Leigh (Hammed), James (Holly), Ashley, Andrew (Breannah), and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Taylin, Charisse, Hendrik, Lily, and Felix; two great-great-grandchildren, Tayvian, and Sergio Jr.; sister-in-law Carol, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gary had two distinguished careers, first in the Canadian Forces and later as a manager at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station. At the age of 16, he joined the Canadian Forces. Throughout his time in the military, he received the Canadian Forces’ Decoration (CD), the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM), NATO Special Service Medal, and the UN Emergency Force Middle East Medal (UNEFME). He served as a member for the Canadian Forces for 23 years and retired in 1979 at the rank of Warrant Officer from the 2nd Service Battalion at Base Petawawa. At the age of 39, he became the manager for the stores at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station, where he remained for 21 years before retiring in the year 2000.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, dedication to family, and love for his dogs.
Special thanks to Dr. John Keddy and staff from the Veterans Health Unit, Priestman Wing for their excellent care of Gary and his family.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will be handled by the Oromocto Funeral Home & Crematorium, and no services will be held. The family appreciates the support and kindness of friends and loved ones during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA in his honor.
