Obituary of Gareth Goodings
Our dear father and grandfather Gareth (Gary) Goodings passed away peacefully at home on the morning of April 2, 2025 surrounded by family at the age of 91.
He was a proud son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents Hazel (1997) and Bob (1989) and his beloved wife Jo-Ann (2011), and sister-in-law Liz (2009).
He is survived by his children Susan (Carlos), Paul and Carrol, grandchildren Alana, Nick, Sara, Cassandra, Selina, Hayden and Caleb, and great grandchildren Anthony, Rachel, Mila, Logan, Ava, Isabella, Ethan, Joshua and Brayden. He is also survived by his brothers Bob (late Liz), Bill (June) and Ken (Lynn) Goodings, and many nieces and nephews.
Always a man of steadfast strength, he was a kind and tremendously generous soul, devoted to his family and humble in how he lived his life.
He served his country as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1952 to 1977 retiring as Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the military, he continued to contribute to his country working for the Department of Defence until he retired in 1998.
He lived by example embodying his beliefs with regular acts of service, charitable contributions, always supportive and compassionate of those around him and those in need.
In the spirit how he lived his life, in lieu of any flowers or donations, anyone who would like to pay tribute to his memory could commemorate his passing with a gesture of kindness towards someone in need of compassionate support.
We will miss him and his advice and counsel, but will remember him with love.
