It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Gail Mary Nichol, age 74, of
Amherst. Gail passed away with her loving family by her side
on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Born in Summerside, PE, she was a
daughter of the late James and Edith (McVarish)
McCormack.
Gail met Terry in Ottawa, ON, and they
married AUGUST 25, 1973, in Borden, PEI. She followed his
30-year career in the RCMP from Ontario, Newfoundland, and Nova
Scotia.
Gail was surrounded by her loving
family. A devoted stay-at-home mom, she dedicated her life to
nurturing her children and creating a warm, loving home. Her kindness,
patience, and unwavering support shaped the lives of those she loved.
She found joy in simple moments — family dinners, bedtime
stories, and cheering at her grandchildren’s sporting
events. She was often found with coffee on her front steps watching
the birds and capturing their beauty by taking pictures. She loved
feeding the hummingbirds as she had many feeders around the property.
She would get excited when the cardinals would come visit as they were
also her favourite.
In the evenings during the winter
months, you could find her cuddled up on the sofa enjoying the hockey
games or curling with her favourite snacks which were Lays original
chips along with her must have Diet Pepsi. Her love was the foundation
of her family, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of her husband,
children, grandchildren, and all who knew her very well. She will be
deeply missed.
Gail will be lovingly remembered and
missed by her husband of 52 years Terry and their sons Tyler (Sheila),
Jeremy (Crystal) and her daughter Terri-Lynn along with her grandsons
Braydon (Jada) Rusty, Ryker and Kaleb. Her Brothers Wade (Alana) Glen
(Jeannette) Todd (Gisele); sisters Marilyn (Donnie) Pam and sister
in-law Arlene as well as many nieces and nephews and a long with
extended family.
Gail was predeceased by her brother
Chris and brother in-law Barry Paynter.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70
Church Street, Amherst, NS (902 667-8777). In keeping with
Gail’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
Burial of her ashes will take place in the Catholic Church of St.
Peter Cemetery, Seven Mile Bay in Prince Edward Island in the
Spring.
Family would like to thank DR R. Keith
SHORT, The Palliative Care Team, and Nursing Staff at CRHCC. Special
