WIEDERHOLD, Gail (formerly Collyer) – With her family at her side, Gail passed away peacefully, on March 6, 2025, at the age of 70, after suffering for over 15 years from Atypical Parkinsonism; specifically Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Gail was the beloved daughter of Jacqueline (Jill) Birkbeck (nee Spaxman) and the late Donald Wiederhold. She was the loved sister of Ryck (Anita Van Dalen), Nancy (David Murray) and Clayton “Jay” (Christine Umhoza). Beloved aunt to Nicole Murray (Christian), Christine Murray-Kerr (Jarret), Matthew Murray (Taylor), Darren Wiederhold and Jeremy Wiederhold and great aunt to 3. Gail will be greatly missed by her lifelong friend, Cathy (Peter) Hart and special aunt to Tom Hart and John Hart.
Gail was a dental hygienist who worked for many years with Dr. Robert (Bob) Peeling and retired due to the unknown onset of the disease. Gail is missed by her former patients, colleagues, extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the various medical professionals who all ensured that Gail received the best possible care and support due to this rare disease. Special thanks to the staff at the both, The Wellington Nursing Home and Retirement Home for their loving care and support in helping Gail to remain independent to the very end.
Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family requests that donations be made to The Rossy Progessive Supranuclear Palsy Centre to support the awareness and further research of the disease.
