With Heavy hearts we share the passing of Sheila “Gail” Downie on Thursday, March 13th 2025, at Avalon Care Centre in Orangeville at the age of 81, we lost a light in our lives.
Gail was born May 6th, 1943 in England, she spent most of her life in Toronto where she raised her family and then spent her later years living in Dufferin County.
Loving wife of the late James Downie (2008), loving sister of Valerie, Susan, Jean and Brian. Deeply missed by her children, James, Robert and Katherine (Michael Ronaldson). Cherished Nana to Samantha, Megan (Megan Girl), Brittany, MacKenzie, Leandro, Destiny, Mckayla, Samantha and Riley. Great Grandmother of Kyleigh, Kobe, Kioko and Jordan. Gail will also be missed by other relatives and many friends.
Gail was a firecracker with a contagious laugh, who would give you the shirt off her back. She loved her family deeply. She enjoyed sitting in the sunshine and watching the birds. She also enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple leafs while doing her word searches.
Gail’s wish was to be cremated and have a celebration of life. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
