Frederick MacLean Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick Winston MacLean announces his passing following a brief illness which occured at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday February 19, 2025. Born in Springhill NS on May 27, 1943, he was the son of the late Frederick E. MacLean and Anne G (Ward) MacLean. In 1948 their family moved to Saint John NB>
Fred leaves behind his brothers Murray MacLean (Donna Blanchard), Thomas Maclean, both of Saint John NB, sisters Rosemary Newton of Orleans, Ont. and sister Candace Crawley (Fred) of Saint John NB. Also left to mourn his loss are his many nieces and nephews and special friends Cathy (Green) MacDonald and Jimmy Green.
Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased byhis partner Carol Green, nephew Michael John Frederick MacLean, his sister in law Loiusa (Cuppens) MacLean, his brother in law Larry Newton and his much loved feline companion Twister.
Following the completion of his high school years at Saint John High School in 1961, Fred joined his father as an apprentice Dental Technician at MacLean Dental Lab. In 1976, upon completion of the required exam, they became Denturists when the New Brunswick Denturist Act became law. Together Fred and his father provided dentures and partial plates for many people in the Southern New Brunswick area.
Following his retirement as a Denturist, Fred was far from idle; he worked as a technician for Continental Tel-Sat, setting up satellite dishes. He was later employed as a driver for Worldwide EnterprisesInc., a local freight forwarding company, retiring in 2016.
Fred was a lifelong resident of Quinton Heights and in recent years, had acquired the title of “Senior Resident”. Since his retirement, he had enjoyed his time as aregular of the Lansdowne Avenue Tim Hortons Social Club.
Down through the years,he enjoyed taking care of his beautiful cars, his black Grand Prix, his white Camaro, and his dark green Mercedes Convertible.
The family would like to thank Dr. McKnight, Dr. McKee and Dr. Farid, and to all the nursing staff of Internal Medicine and the Emergency Department, for the care of Fred during his final days.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John NB E2J 2G3 (506-646-2424). In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. For those wishing to make a donation in Fred’s memory may do so to the charity of the donor’s choice
