Frederick “Roy” Thompson of Caledon passed away peacefully at Bethell Hospice with family by his side on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in his 89th year.
Cherished husband of the late Heather Ann Hutton (2018) for over 57 years and loving father of Allan (Anne) Thompson, David (Jacqueline) Thompson, Amy (Doug) Miller and Lynda (Chris) Wormald. Missed by 11 grandchildren—Elliott (Rebecca) Miller, Scott (Marissa) Miller, Ryan (Jennie) Thompson, Tyler (Shannon) Thompson, Jamie (Jannessa) Miller, James (Rachel) Thompson, Jordan (Charlotte) Thompson, Julia (Adam) Kimber, Lukas (Micah) Wormald, Jessica (Jordan) Fletcher, and Rachel Wormald. Proud “Big Papa” to 15 great-grandchildren, including Callum, Hallie, Lexi, Hank, Payton, Landon, Wyatt, Bennett, Teddy, Brooke, Maddox, Tyson, Scarlett, Wren and Leeland. He was looking forward to welcoming another great-grandchild later this year.
Predeceased by his parents Laverne and Jean Thompson, sister Dorothy (Gordon) Coyne, brother-in-law Roger Hutton and sister-in-law Mary Hutton.
Born and raised at Elmlawn Farms in Terra Cotta, Roy was a proud farmer his entire life and together with his family earned a Master Breeder Shield from Holstein Canada (1986) and named Peel Farm Family of the Year (2001).
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 1 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm with the funeral service to follow on Wednesday, April 2 at 11 am, all at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers donations to Bethell Hospice, Union Presbyterian Church or the Roy and Heather Ann Thompson Endowment Fund (through the Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation) greatly appreciated.
