Fred Allen Zwicker
March 2, 1944 – January 19, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Fred Allen Zwicker on January 19, 2025 at the Blomidon Court Nursing Home, Wolfville, NS. He had been a resident of the Blomidon since 2020 and their staff had become his extended family. We thank them for their continued care and ensuring his sister, Helen and brother Tracy, residents there as well, were able to be by his side and provide them comfort at this difficult time.
Fred was born in Mahone Bay, March 02, 1944 to Irene and Tracy Zwicker. He lived most of his life around that area. His love of dogs and rock and roll music was a constant throughout his life. During his early residency at the Blomidon, he had a bird feeder outside his window that a staff member helped him maintain. He very much enjoyed watching the birds visiting it.
Fred was predeceased by his parents; brother Lawrence; brothers-in-law; Graham Cowie, Clark Dorey and Patrick Fitzpatrick.
Leaving to mourn his loss are his sisters; Helen Cowie, Margaret Dorey, Dee Tanner and Linda Fitzpatrick; brother Tracy; sister-in-law Dorene Zwicker; plus a large circle of nieces and nephews.
We thank all the staff at the Blomidon for their exceptional care and compassion in caring for Fred for the last 5 years. We also want to thank Dr. Targett who so many times was able to help Fred recover from his illnesses. We will be forever grateful for the friendship and comfort provided to Fred.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service at Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay to be announced at a later date.
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
