Frank Venema Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce that in the quiet early morning of Tuesday February 25th, with family watching over him, the Lord called Frank Venema home to be with Him.
Frank was 93 years old and the beloved husband of Jessie Venema-Damstra for 68 years. Frank was a cherished husband, father, grandfather ‘Pake’ and friend who touched the lives of many. Frank was born in de Valom, Friesland and lived a life of dedication to his wife, his faith and his loved ones. He was known for his big laugh, strong work ethic and welcoming spirit.
Frank is survived by his loving children John & Ineke, Sid, Henry & Dorothy, Rick & Jessica, Frances & Sergio, Mona & Wayne, his loving grandchildren Katie (James), Lindsay (Eelco), Ruben (Esmee), Matthew, Jordan (Elisa), Jolene, Rosaleigh (Don), Caroline, Michael, Hannah (Sean), Emily (Nick), Catherine, Beau, Rebekah (Dan), Bethany (Eric), Jodie (Cameron), Travis (Lisa), Jacob, Abigail, Julianne (James), Jorgeanne (Bryce), Jill (Andrew), Collin, Olivia and Adam and his 17 loving great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jannie Zuidema-Venema and sister-in- law Marianne Hellinga-Damstra who both currently reside in the Netherlands. He is now reunited in heaven with those who passed before him.
Following a private interment, a visitation will be held March 7th from 2pm – 4pm at Living Water Reformed Church located at 22 Holiday Drive in Brantford, ON. A second visitation will take place at the same location on March 8th from 10:30am – 11:30am followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Service complete with refreshments, officiated by Pastor Greg Bylsma.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joesph’s Healthcare Hamilton Foundation, in memory of Frank would be appreciated by the family. We will forever be thankful to the dedicated staff at St. Joseph’s who all took such great care of Frank in his last months and days.
Frank’s favourite piece of scripture was Psalm 23: ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,’ and we take great comfort in knowing that he is up in heaven where he ‘surely shall dwell in the house of the Lord, forever.’
