Francine Carole Rushton Obituary
With deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our mom and nanny Francine Rushton, at the age of 82. She passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre with her family by her side on March 6, 2025.
Francine was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on January 31, 1943. She was predeceased by her mother Muriel, father Francis, husband Brian, and her son Bruce Alan. She will be reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, after spending just 6 months apart.
Francine started her career at the young age of 15, working as a clerk at Hudson’s. She then worked for Moir’s Chocolate Factory, which I’m sure contributed to her love of chocolate. She learned to do bookkeeping there, and after moving from Moncton to Toronto with her family, she began her career as a bookkeeper working for the Royal Canadian Legion and spent many years there. Even after leaving the Legion, she remained involved in the Legion’s many events. She ended her career working for Sweet Gallery Bakery.
Francine was a voracious reader. She was also a passionate Elvis fan, and was thrilled to visit Graceland in Memphis. She loved doing crossword and word search puzzles. And of course Red Lobster.
She will be deeply missed by her son Todd (Kim), daughter Terri (Mike), granddaughter Kelsey (Anthony), sister Gloria, and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at a later date. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home,
3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (at 14th St., between Islington and Kipling Aves.,
416-259-3705) for a Memorial Visitation and Reception on Saturday, March 15th from 3 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
