Frances E. Armstrong
1934-2025
Frances Armstrong (nee Cooper) 90, of Alma passed away
suddenly on January 30. Born in Alma, she was the daughter
of the late Walter and Harriet (Hattie McKinley)
Cooper.
She worked various roles, from a
promotional model for the opening of Fundy National Park, to general
store manager to various Federal positions, mostly at Fundy National
Park.
Fiercely independent and a scrapper
right to the end, she stood up for her beliefs and fought for
other’s rights. She never took no for an answer.
She was a strong community leader, volunteering in the Home and School
Association, Tourism Association, Albert County Hospital Board, she
led a team to Fredericton to meet the Minister of Health to protest
the closing of the local medical clinic and won. The Albert County
Community Health Centre exists today because of her. She was
the secretary/treasurer of her beloved St . Stephen’s United
Church for decades and a 20 year volunteer for Moncton
Hospice. Oh, and a competitive curler and
champion.
She will be sadly missed by her
daughter Bonnie-Lee Armstrong (Bruce ), grandson Liam
Armstrong-Harper, son Derek Armstrong (Guy), sister Elsie (John)
O’Regan and several nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents she was
predeceased by her husband Mansel, brothers Walter, Rutherford, James
and sister Margaret.
There will be no visitation or funeral
service. A family memorial service will be held in May with
internment in the Alma United Cemetery.
For those who wish, donations to the
Alma United Cemetery, the Moncton Hospice or any charity of your
choice would be appreciated
The family would like to extend a
heartfelt thank-you to everyone at the Forest Dale Seniors
Home. Their dedication, wonderful care, kindness and warmth
gave mum a safe and cheery home.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County
