It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ford Lidstone – 88 years old, announce his peaceful passing at Gander Long Term Care, in the wee hours of January 11th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Shirley, son Brian (Glenda), and daughter Ann (Elvis). Four grandchildren Katherine, Christopher (Lisa), Adam (Mairi), and Beth (Matthew). A beautiful great-granddaughter Keaira and a special friend Ryan. Brother Carl (Consula), sisters Ivy (Walter), Vida (Clem), sister-in-law Sheila and a large number of nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law Gordon (Maude), friend Beatrice Bailey, and a large circle of family and friends, who will miss him dearly.
Ford was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Ida, and brother Albert.
Ford was and always will be the nucleus of his family, and loved them with all his heart. He was admired and loved by all that knew him. He was very soft spoken, and had such a mild demeanor and a huge heart. Ford was a very faithful man of God and was very active in his church. One of his true loves was his fellowship with others and his love of music, which was expressed by his singing in various choirs.
Family will be accepting friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 14th from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 15th at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Ford’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army (Family services).
Thank you to the staff at Nightingale Manor, Lakeside Homes, and Gander Long Term Care. A special thank-you to Crystal Cornick, Dr. Caramel Casey, Lillian Paul, Major Wayne Loveless and Rev. Paul Vardy.
Ford had a long and fulfilling career with Canada Post. He was an avid gardener, he had a love for skiing, walking, camping and travelling. He especially loved his sweet tooth. For many years he has been a Canadian Amateur radio operator – “ 73 de VO1OZ, goodnight”.
