Florence Hayward, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on July 26, 1951, in Placentia, Newfoundland. Florence brought light and laughter wherever she went, touching the lives of many with her strength, spirit, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Patrick, her loving sons, Corey (Carolyn) and Travis (Katie) and her cherished daughter, Michelle (Don); brothers, Art, Bob (Rose), Hubert; sister Sandra (Jim); grandkids, Cassandra, Wesley, Alexander, Braeden; great-grandkids, Jackson, Alexa and Peter.
Predeased by her parents, Joe and Marie Brooks; brothers, Freeman and Wayne; sister, Sharon; sister-in-law, Teresa Brooks; parents-in-law, Jim and Violet Hayward.
Florence’s family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into every moment shared with them.
Florence was a proud Newfoundlander and a woman of many talents and interests. She spent her life working in construction – a field not often tread by women of her time — and did so with determination, grit, and a remarkable work ethic. Her contributions helped build not just structures, but a lasting legacy of resilience and integrity.
A passionate collector, Florence had a special fondness for trinkets and souvenir spoons. Each piece in her collection held a story, a memory, or a smile, and she delighted in sharing those stories with anyone who visited her home.
Florence’s warmth, humor, and straightforward nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, her collection, and the many lives she touched with her kindness and strength.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 25th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to take place on Monday, May 26th, 2025 in Coombs Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place at Coombs Memorial Cemetery, Southeast, Placentia.
