Her 20 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren will also miss her warm smiles and hugs.
Ma was born in Verner, a small Northern Ontario town . She was the 2nd eldest of 13 children, After the 7th was born the family moved to Larder Lake, a small mining town where the family continued growing. She was very athletic and was a star runner Ma used to play baseball against the boys. Ma stayed home in her teens to help around the house and became the 2nd maman to the younger 4 siblings who adored her as she was a little bit easier on them.
Ma took a nursing course in Toronto where she graduated as a nurse and came back to the north to work. Shortly after she met “Bill” at a dance and fell in love…They married September 20th 1952 at the age of 23. Pa became a supervisor in open pit mining and as a result the family moved multiple times. We lived in “exotic” places such as Bancroft, Wabush Labrador, Norman Township, Capreol, New Sudbury to name a few. We finally settled on a small farm on #8 HWY between Vineland and Beamsville. Ma’s farming skills came to fruition there as a canner, wine maker, gardner, seamstress, knitter, etc.
Wherever we lived, Ma belonged to the CWL and held all positions over her lifetime, She also was the choir director at the Church and she had the most beautiful voice. She was also the pianist and organist when it was required.
Ma volunteered for “Meals on Wheels” when it first came into the Town of Lincoln.
She opened her home and heart to all that needed it. We would often wake up in the middle of the night to see that she was feeding a strangerer that needed a meal and a bed for the night.
Ma devoted her life to her Lord, her family, her friends and those in need
We will miss you Maman
