While listening to her favorite music with singing Granddaughters by her side Evelyn Annetta Irene Young, (nee Schroder) Peacefully Passed away on April 2, 2025 at the age of 96
Evelyn was the daughter of Stanley and Mildred Schroder she was predeceased by her brothers Allan (Betty), Don (Betty) and is survived by her brother Richard.
Evelyn married Alex Young (predeceased) on April 9,1948 and within 10 years had 6 children. The rest made history.
Children: Sandy (Laura Rackham), Bob (predeceased), Lynda (Jim Cuppage), Ron(predeceased), Annette, and Bernadette (Don Skogen).
Grandchildren: Alex, (Melissa Ryan) Deena (Tim Dowse), Shawna (Jason Stewart), Rob, Ryan (Tara), Raymond, Jamie (predeceased), Jonathan (Leta Watson), Anthea (Troy Keddy), Anna (Darren Smalley), Tiffany, Tammy, LoriAnn, Rochelle (Ryan Richards).

Mom was very proud of and often spoke of the sheer number of people to carry on her bloodline. As the rest age, we are sure this line will continue. Evelyn was also Aunt to many nieces and nephews and truly valued their presence in her life.
Family was very important to our parents and we often visited with our cousins, at times having some stay for a holiday with Aunt Evelyn. As long as one can remember at family gatherings Evelyn was famous for her butter tarts- most often some were hidden away to be enjoyed at a later quiet time. A tradition I am sure will continue as Evelyn ensured several of us knew how to make her special recipe.
Evelyn led a very busy life and enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting, fishing, sewing, knitting, crafting her volunteer work and yes, baking and not just butter tarts! When the grandchildren came along each of us received beautiful hand made outfits as their ‘bringing home’ sweaters, bonnets and booties. Treasures we enjoyed and some we even managed to pass down to great grandchildren. Evelyn was especially proud of her paper tole and won many prizes at local fairs including special recognition from the Royal Winter Fair. Country music was always playing and she was a voracious reader especially the Western genre.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a position she was honored to hold. She was very active in the branch stepping up to help in any way she could. Cards, darts and horseshoes were activities she especially enjoyed.
Evelyn had a very full life. We are going to miss her however we are relieved she is at peace.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday April 12, 2025 at the Sutton Legion, 1:00-4:00pm
