Evelyn Irene Shaw – 83, Truro, passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Colchester East Hants
Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late
Fulton and Doris (Ainslie) Totten.
Evelyn loved her family dearly and always made sure that they
had everything they needed. She loved the beach, from Cape John to
Five Islands, and she would spend hours walking the sandbars. Later in
life, she and her husband, Harry, had a morning ritual to have coffee
with friends and then hitting up a good deal at a thrift shop. On the
weekends they would go to church or take a drive to the shore. She was
a faithful member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Lower
Truro Road.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Harry;
daughter, Lea Anne, Truro; son, Michael (Leesa), Truro;
granddaughters, Rebecca (Robb) Bernard, Truro; Christie (Jody)
Brandford, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; grandson, Andrew
(Kelsey) Shaw, Calgary, Alberta; great grandkids, Silas and Gus
Brandford, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; Raelynn Bernard, Truro;
brother, Lyman Totten, Truro; sisters, Verna Cox, Myrna Luddington,
Truro; sisters-in-law, Shirley Isenor, Mary Fraser, Beatrice Shaw,
Truro; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was
predeceased by her parents-in-law, Alfred and Helen (Hanes) Shaw;
sister-in-law, Norma Totten; brothers-in-law, Austin Luddington, Jim
Daye.
Honouring Evelyn’s wishes, a graveside service will
be held at a later date in Bible Hill Cemetery, 41 Warren Drive, Bible
Hill. If so desired, donations in Evelyn’s memory to St.
Paul’s Presbyterian Church are welcomed.
