Obituary
With heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Eva Velocci on March 14, 2025, at the age of 98. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Queens Gardens Long Term Care Residence.
Born in Italy, Eva immigrated to Canada, where she built a life filled with love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She dedicated many years of hard work at Voortman Cookies, but her greatest joy came from the simple moments spent with her loved ones. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always giving. Eva was the heart and soul of her family-a source of strength, warmth, and boundless love.
She will be deeply missed by her five children: Luigi (Ivana), Carmine (Carmen), Giulio “John” (Carol), Flora (Luciano), and Anthony “Tony” (Giuseppina).
A devoted Nonna, she cherished her eleven grandchildren: Laila (Paolo), Louie (Kari), Claudia (Thomas), Paola (Hugues), Jeremy (Lesley), Christine (Leo), Roberto (Marie-France), Jonathan (Lindsay), Amanda (Steven), Peter, and Anthony.
Her legacy continues through her nineteen great-grandchildren: Daniel, Massimo, the late Christopher, Matthew, Giancarlo, Leah, Marco, Eloise, Nathan, Laura, Dario, Sloan, Sarah, Sofia, Easton, Nela, Cara, Leo, and Jack. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit – a reflection of the love, wisdom, and laughter she so effortlessly shared.
She will also be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends in both Canada and Italy. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Queens Gardens for their compassionate care and dedication.
Eva is now reunited with her beloved husband, Eliseo. Together again, they will watch over us, their love enduring beyond time. Her strength, her warmth, and the love she so freely gave will remain in our hearts always.
Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL on Friday March 21, 2025, from 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Charles Garnier Church on Saturday March 22, 2025, at 10am. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Burlington, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Toronto SickKids Children Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
