Eugenia “Jenny” Krzywonos
March 8, 1932 – February 8, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eugenia “Jenny” Krzywonos on February 8, 2025, at the age of 92. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and generosity touched many lives.
Jenny was predeceased by her husband, Rudolf Krzywonos (April 22, 1996), and her daughter, Stella(August 23, 2009). She leaves behind her loving children, John (Dal) and Donna (Burt), and her cherished grandchildren: Master Sailor Robert Opat (Chantal), Jeannie (Lee), Jerrad, Justin, Jason, Julia (Amir), Katie, and Caleb. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Alyxia, Alvin, Matthew, Addison, and Fiona. Jenny is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Poland and will be deeply missed by her faithful fur baby, Rico “Rickman.”
Born in Poland, Jenny immigrated to St. Catharines, Canada, in 1959, where she built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community. She took on many jobs in farming and at the local canning factory, but her true passion was cooking. For years, she was the proud owner of Jenny’s Catering, primarily out of Henley Island Clubhouse. She also cooked for the Canadian Polish Society, where she was a longtime member. A devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Jenny found strength in her faith throughout her life.
In her later years, Jenny enjoyed the simple joys of life—knitting thoughtful gifts for her family, sewing, gardening, and basking in the sunshine as the beloved “neighborhood’s Babci.”
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Garden City Manor for their compassionate care over the past year and a half.
In honor of Jenny’s love for animals and her caring spirit, donations may be made to Therapy Tails or March of Dimes.
Jenny will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, love, and the countless meals she lovingly prepared for family, friends, and her community.
Visitation for Jenny will be held at George Darte Funeral Home on Tuesday February 11, from 2-4 & 6-8pm with Vigil Prayers at 6pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church, Wednesday February 12 at 11am with Burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
